BLEU CHEESE BACON BURGERS

Check out these Blue Cheese Bacon Burgers from Derek Wolf with Over the Fire Cooking. Derek uses Cowboy® Hickory Wood Chunks to bring out a rich and smoky flavor that combines melted bold bleu cheese with crisp bacon.

- 1 pound ground chuck beef
- 8 strips cooked bacon
- 4 pretzel bread burger buns
- 1 cup crumbled bleu cheese
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 iceberg lettuce leaves
- 1 cup Cowboy Hickory Wood Chunks
PREPARATION:
- In a bowl, mix the ground chuck beef, salt, pepper, and chili powder
- Once mixed, mold beef into four even sized large patties and set aside for later use
- Light Cowboy Hardwood Lump Charcoal in charcoal chimney and let burn for 10-15 minutes
- Spread hot coals over grilling area while placing a handful of Cowboy Hickory Wood Chunks on top and preheat grill for approximately 10 minutes
- Add patties over direct heat on grill and cook for 5 minutes per side, flipping once while cooking
- When the patties are within 2 minutes of being done, place crumbled bleu cheese on top
- If you prefer a toasted bun, place on grill for 1 minute, or until crisp
- Place grilled burgers on bun and top with bacon, tomatoes and onions
- Serve and enjoy!
